Life has been busy lately and while I am definitely putting fitness and physical health first in my life, I haven’t had a ton of time to do other things I love. Like reading. Forget that I even said things, the only thing that I am really missing right now is reading. And I didn’t even notice that I haven’t read a new book in at least a month. I kept checking them out from the library, reading a couple pages, getting bored or busy, and returning them without actually finishing them. That stops now though!!
I have been kind of tracking my progress on my new year’s resolution to make sure that I don’t end up wondering where all the time went on December 31st and wishing I had done more to reach my goals.
I had pledged to read 24 books this year on my Goodreads profile and I have literally only read 3 so far. Which is NOT going to help me reach my goal. At this rate I will barely hit twelve by the end of the year! So, I’ve got to step it up. This month, I am challenging myself to read four books in an effort to somewhat get myself back on track. Will it be easy? No, that is a whole lot of reading. Will it be wonderful? Yes, that is a whole lot of reading!
I have hatched out a little bit of a strategy for this and I am hoping I can push myself to stick to it. I am going to shoot for one physical book every week and a half(ish) and then one audiobook throughout the month. I can listen to the audiobook on my commute to and from work, while I am making dinner, or cleaning my apartment. I am going to try to set aside 30 minutes a day of reading time as well to make sure that I can get back on track with this goal!
